About Your Local Pittsburgh Photographers
Nathan J Shaulis – Professional Photographer
I fell in love with photography the very first moment my father laid a manual film camera in my 12-year-old hands. I studied and practiced for years, learning every aspect of each successive tool by taking photos of anything and everything, finding a special kinship with nature.
After studying art and photography in high school and college, and eventually switching to digital photography, I discovered that while nature photos are beautiful, they don’t offer the same interaction and energy as taking photos of people. Taking photos of children, families, and pets is always an entertaining challenge, while event photography has it’s own completely unique exhilaration.
I am a member of Professional Photographers of America, American Society of Media Photographers and National Association of Photoshop Professionals. My work has been published in Pittsburgh Magazine,
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Pittsburgh City Paper, Whirl, and The Jewish Chronicle.
Sam Laffey – Creative & Designer
Sam grew up with a love of painting and sculpture but turned her creative talents toward graphic design. At Porter Loves, she takes the images I create to design awesome albums, storybooks, cards, and other tangible items for our clients to enjoy. Nothing pleases her more that delivering a design to a client that takes his or her breath away.
Perhaps one of the greatest compliments she ever received was when a client said, “It’s so wonderful and perfect – just what I wanted but never could have come up with on my own.” She strives for that reaction in everything she does. These are your moments and memories, she wants to put them together in a way that’s meaningful to you.
We are both passionate about art, food, how awesome Pittsburgh is, Steeler football, and our adorable pups that inspire us to love and laugh every day.
Who is Porter?
Porter is our 6-year-old Boston Terrier/Pug mix. He loves meeting new people, especially if they have treats! He only weighs 20 pounds but has the strength and energy of a dog many times his size. He is ever vigilant for activities to engage in, especially if it involves the destruction of new toys, investigating new smells in the kitchen, or wrestling with his little sister Jeanie.
He is always a well-behaved model when new equipment comes in that needs to be tested, and even inspired us to expand into pet photography.
